Kohler toilet in my home’s basement constantly gives off a sound of running water. Is it leaking?Details below?

The Office Fan asked:

I put some dye in the tank and none leaked into the bowl. But the toilet keeps making the sound of water running. This ends when I turn off the water flow near the base of the toilet. None of the other Kohler toilets in my home make this noise. Your thoughts on this. Is the toilet leaking? Thanks.

What do I do to my fish tank water?

Darth Mutt asked:

Woke up at 7, fed my goldfish, turned the light on for an hour, went to work, lunch at 12, turned the light back on until i got home around 6. Around 12 the temperature was about 75, got home it was 82! I keep hearing I need to give them 8-12 hours of light. But the light heats the hell out of my water. Give me some feed back. My water also is kinda cloudy. It’s a new tank and only had water in it for about 2 days. Helpmuh out…………
It’s a 10 gallon tank with a fancy goldfish… already have a filter system too.

Please help! How much water do I put in a crawdad/ crayfish tank?

meglin ! asked:

My brother and I found a crawdad/ crayfish (whichever you like to call them) at the lake. He took him home, and now we’ve got no other choice but to try and keep him. I refuse to let the poor thing die; so, I’m trying to give him the best care possible.
However; I’ve got a 5 gallon fish tank little Filberto will live in. Do I fill the entire tank with water? Just half way? Should I include rocks that let him get out of the water? Do they NEED to get out of the water?
Also; his diet. I know they’re omnivores; but I still don’t know what to feed him. I’d hate to go out and buy sinking pellets. Can he eat dog food? Maybe live off of veggies for a few days until I buy something better?

Please give me as much information as possible. I want the little guy to survive! Thanks!
I’m aware the tank is too small; but its all I’ve got, and I’m going to make the best of it for the little guy.

Drive it all the way back down to the lake? I’m sure even PETA wouldn’t do that. I refuse to just kill it; so, a 5 gallon tank will have to work.

Besides; my question didn’t include anything about the tank size, nor a lecture. :] Thank you.
The water has been perfected. I’m no novice tank-handler.

Water is at 70 degrees F; 0 ammonia, 0 nitries, and a PH of 7.5. Its all taken care of. I just need to know how much water to put in.

Good shrimp for a salt water nano tank?

Sarah H asked:

I have a friend to help me with the startup and maintenance aspects of a salt water tank, he’s got an amazing one in his home and I’m pretty well-versed in freshwater keeping.

My question is what are some really interesting shrimp (I don’t want any fish, it’s too small - 3 gallons) that are interesting and won’t kill each other.

I’m looking to have 2-3 shrimp, maybe some crabs or some snails.

I know nothing about salt water creatures so please suggest easier ones.

water pressure systems?

Tom S asked:

How do I set the pressure in a home water pressure tank system
This is a home pressure system, on a well. I seem to be getting a variation on tap pressure-high and low, and finding more sediment in the filter.

There’s a transparent goop around my nephews’ dead goldfish in the water tank. What is it?

jessy asked:

I came home to my mom’s to find that the twins’ four goldfish were all dead. I looked into the tank and saw one of the fish on the bottom of the tank covered in this transparent goop stuff. Apparently, it was the last fish to die and no one had taken it out yet. Anyone know whats happening to the fish?

the pilot light seems to be out on my gas hot water tank.
The water in my home is cold this morning.
The tank appears to be leaking a slow drip out of the pvc draining pipe which is attached to the bottom of the tank.
I do not see a pilot light. the thermostate is turned on. What should i do to fix this thing?

If an inexpensive refit was widely available, would you do this in your home or business to conserve water?

bluewater asked:

I’ve spent much of the last 3 years living on a sailboat. We can stay out for 6 weeks before refilling our 100-gallon water tank. Here in the US, each American averages 150 gallons every DAY. This is far and away more than any other country in the world.

On the boat, we use a foot pump to draw water into our sink. Every full down/up cycle of the pump gives us 1/2 cup of water. If we wish to fill a pasta pot or a kettle, we rapidly pump several cycles and water flows quite fast. Our water never flows freely without action from the foot pump. I was amazed at how quickly we adapted to its use, and how much we enjoyed the hands-free element of it.

So I wonder if all you citizens of the world (especially in water-strapped regions) would consider implementing this change if it was easy enough to do…

If there was a easy way to adapt a simple foot pump to the pressure water in your home, would you do it? Would you be willing to adjust to a slightly less convenient method of getting water from your faucet? What about in your shower? Would you be willing to shampoo and bathe yourself while operating a foot pump? Sure, your dishwasher and laundry would run as usual, but could you get used to the change in your faucet? Would you embrace the idea? What if it cost less than $50 per faucet?

I imagine there is a way to accomplish this, but I’m an editor not an engineer. Can anyone with related knowledge speak on the subject? Can such a pump even work with a pressurized system? Here is the pump we use on the boat: http://www.whalepumps.com/marine/product_list/1/13/

And if it really seemed feasible and I wanted to become an advocate for this widespread change, how would I start? I currently live in a small town in Alaska.
If you can’t understand that the point here is water conservation for the greater good, then don’t bother responding.

I am planning on haveing golfish in a tank in my home, already set up the tank and pumps, can I use rain water

1st time momma! asked:

I have in a tank with rainwater outside can I use the rain water 2 replace the water I have 2 take out each day? The rain water is in a HUGE tank outside and it is free of Chlorine, so is it safe 2 use for goldfish?
Kelly: I was told by the petshop owner that I need 2 take out and replace a small amount (like a liter or so) of water each day. So I don’t have 2 do that?
