Why has my fish tank water turned so cloudy?
Heidi asked:
I just recently moved back home from living at school. When I moved, I took out half the water so it would be easier to transport. I have 5 guppies and 2 catfish cories. When I added water from my house, the next day the tank was so cloudy. It also kind of turned green. Why is this? Could it be from the water supply here at home? Thanks so much.

U Are Feeding The Fish 2 Much Food In The Food Is Siting There And The Fish IS Not Eating All The Food So The Food Just Siting There Makes The Water Look That Way, Go 2 Your Local Pet Store And They Would Be Able 2 Tell u The Best Thing 2 Get For That!
i think its where you only had half the amount of water in because when they produce waste it diffuses into a large area of water having half the water will make the waste diffuse less causing it to go green
I think it is because you have not washed it properly and did you use the special liquid thing?
the green is most likely algae maybe close to a window or leaving the light on for a long period of time, even if its near a strong lamp ive seen it do it. the cloudy water can be from a few things, over feeding, the tank could be doing a mini cycle, if you like the filter dry out, could also just be the junk that was in the filter when it dried out, if its a small tank the difference in water ph, hardness, etc from what their used to and whats at your house could have stressed them, and when fish get stressed the go to the bathroom more often.
make sure to monitor your water quality and your fish, and you should be fine.
