There’s a transparent goop around my nephews’ dead goldfish in the water tank. What is it?

jessy asked:

I came home to my mom’s to find that the twins’ four goldfish were all dead. I looked into the tank and saw one of the fish on the bottom of the tank covered in this transparent goop stuff. Apparently, it was the last fish to die and no one had taken it out yet. Anyone know whats happening to the fish?

Sounds like very badly mistreated Goldfish. The fish should be taken out immediately once they die.

Tell your nephew that each Goldfish needs 20 gallons of water with filters made for tanks twice the size. If he had four Goldfish, he should have had a 55 gallon tank.

its mold if you leave it in there long enough that happens, but nothing out of the ordinary just take him out…
