I am moving into a home that uses a propane tank, it needs a new regulator, which regulator do I need?

midnight asked:

I’m not positive, but I believe the tank is a 120 gallon size tank. It supplies the energy for running my water heater and one large wall heater. I have been looking at regulators and I have no clue as to which one would be the appropriate and the safest type to get for this tank.

I’m not sure how much BTU it needs to be able to handle, or PSI, etc. I don’t know whether it needs a high pressure regulator (which seems more likely to me) or not.

I’ve done some extensive searching for this information and maybe I’m looking in the wrong places (apparently), but I can’t seem to find the information I need anywhere.

Any help?

Call the propane supplier, if he doesn’t sell them, he can tell you what size and type to buy and where to get it.

Call the company that you get your propane from and ask. You dont want to mess around with that kinda thing…i had propane once, a leak could kill you in your sleep. Also, get a radon gas detector. That alarm will sound if you ever have a leak. Symptoms of gas exposure are..nausia, head aches, then death while you sleep. ask a pro about this one!

This is the responsibility of the propane company you deal with. This all comes under the Federal act, the propane company has to be certified to change, install or fill a propane tank. Not you.
They’re suppose to do this on a regular basis, clean them, check them out, and charge them. Give them a call and tell them what the problem is.
